About this site

Predict Natural Disasters

This site gathers reports of natural disasters from official agencies around the world. It shows what is happening now and where. It also gives our own forecasts of what may happen next, and it checks those forecasts afterwards.

What we are trying to do

We do not claim to be certain. We want to make disaster information easier to find, compare and check. We always keep three things apart: events that have happened, official warnings and our own forecasts.

—Countries in the current data
—Types of hazard in the current data

Map

A world map of current events. You can search for a place and choose which hazards to show.

Forecasts

Our own forecasts of what may happen next. Each one says which hazard, where and when.

Official warnings

Warnings from government and scientific agencies. We keep them apart from our own forecasts.

Regions

Pages for regions, countries and cities. Each one shows the hazards that matter to the place you chose.

Track record

When a forecast period ends, we check the forecast against what really happened.

Insights

Simple counts and background notes on what is being reported. They are not predictions.

This site gives information to help you stay aware and prepared. It does not replace official emergency warnings, evacuation orders or instructions from your local authorities.
